Muneer Alam’s workbench — projects and case studies

all work.

A curious mind.
A useful thing at the end.

I’ve been teaching myself to code since around sixth standard. These days I build backend systems, developer tools and applied AI projects, co-run ParaPixel DigiServices, and study computer science at Scaler and BITS Pilani. I still learn by trying things, breaking them, and working out why.

Away from the editor

I love books. Artemis Fowl is one of the series that has stayed with me, and my reading goes well beyond one series or genre. Novels, different kinds of stories, and books that send me into a new subject all have a place.

Being a pilot was my childhood dream. Flying felt like a way to get a little closer to space. Astronomy has had my heart for as long as I can remember.

I enjoy debates, philosophical conversations, and writing. History, geography, politics and science are more reasons to open another tab. I like hearing a perspective that makes me question my own.

Selected work

Developer tooling / Published package

safedump ↗

A Python exception names the failing line. safedump keeps the runtime context that helps explain it: bounded variable snapshots, exception chains and thread state, saved locally for inspection after the process stops.

Creator and maintainer, with community contributions preserved in the project history.

Native software / Linux release

Klicky ↗

Klicky turns physical keyboard events into sound. My Linux work follows the entire path from evdev input to cached PCM and the audio mixer, where a small software timing number can hide a much larger buffer delay.

Linux input, audio buffering, normalization, service integration and packaging, building on Sauhard Gupta’s original keyboard-sound daemon.

Applied AI / Local product studio

exHacker ↗

exHacker is a persistent planning workspace for hackathon teams: research possible directions, challenge the assumptions, approve a stack and export a coherent build package from one saved project revision.

Project developer; public repository ownership and implementation are available for review. No sole-author claim is made.

Research tools / Shipped

ReGit ↗

ReGit separates a research team’s live draft from the version worth citing. Immutable source files, collaborative editing, explicit commits and prose merges keep the path from a claim back to its evidence visible.

Co-built with Amrit Kang at Gradient Rush Hackathon. My work includes deterministic sentence-level merging and integration across the shared research workspace.

Backend systems / Team prototype

RhinoBox ↗

RhinoBox combines a file workspace with a Go service that inspects JSON structure and recommends SQL or document storage. Its most revealing details are the boundaries between a recommendation, a database write and a downloadable archive.

Designed and implemented the NoSQL storage component: deciding which data suited document storage, how to structure it and how the application should store and handle it, within a team-built hackathon project.

Developer tooling / Published package

codelines ↗

codelines counts physical lines across a repository, groups the result by extension and directory, and exports complete JSON or CSV. The interesting work is deciding which files belong and keeping the answer consistent across every output.

Creator and maintainer, linked by the package registry to Muneer Alam and muneer320.

Event infrastructure / Historical archive

Ascent ↗

Ascent connected participant and staff workflows across a techfest: registration state, QR entry, submissions, rewards and leaderboards. This story follows my backend and operations work within a larger team-built platform, now preserved as a historical archive.

Co-built backend foundation, API/admin workflows, deployment support and caching/leaderboard behavior. Mirage implementation is credited to X-DIABLO-X; other team contributions remain credited in source.

Interface experiments / Live browser simulation

Arch portfolio ↗

My previous portfolio turns a browser tab into an Arch-inspired desktop. A terminal, movable windows, virtual files and a Pocket interface offer a different way to explore my work, alongside the current reading-focused site.

Designed and developed the browser simulation and its desktop applications, responsive Pocket interface and local state. The preserved source and earlier project history remain available.

Creative software / Web project; original CLI archived

BOOP ↗

Book Of Organized Puzzles began as a Python word-search book generator. Its web version grew into two experiences: create a printable puzzle book, or stay in the browser and play, with touch, hints and saved progress.

Created the Python generator and developed its web evolution. The original placement routine builds on Christian Hill’s SciPython word-search work, credited in the source.

Civic software / Team-built civic workflow demo

MeraWard ↗

MeraWard connects a location, a ward lookup, a reviewed civic complaint, a bilingual letter and a tracking timeline. My backend work focuses on geospatial lookup, complaint state and an index that treats missing evidence as unknown.

Backend handlers, geospatial lookup, Ward Neglect Index, shared SAM integration and verification. Built with Amrit Kang (team lead, frontend and ward data) and Kartik Dixit (AWS infrastructure and original deployment).

Yugaantar 2026 ↗

Technical-team work on Scaler’s annual fest platform, from sign-in to participant records, submissions and staff administration. A successful login is only the entrance: the participant needs a consistent record afterwards, and the staff need enough context to handle imports, claims and follow-up work. This builds on the operational lessons of Ascent, within a different team and platform. The implementation repository is private.

Hermes / HKV ↗

A personal knowledge system built around an entity store, an event log and projections. The question is what an assistant should be able to remember, how a change becomes part of that history, and how useful views can be reconstructed without treating the latest chat message as the only source of truth. The public description stays at that systems level; personal records and private operational details are not part of this portfolio.

ParaPixel DigiServices ↗

Client-platform work as a co-founder of the agency I started with a friend in a hostel room. A website, application or CRM begins with somebody else’s workflow: understanding what they need, choosing the shape of the system, delivering it and staying involved when real use exposes the next issue. Requirements, deployment and maintenance are part of the same engineering responsibility. Client-specific implementation and business details remain private.

Let’s make something useful.
